[September 20, 2013] Hollywood stories and celebrity memoirs can be found everywhere today. But never has an entertainment book been written that offers an insider’s backstage – and on stage – view of the inner workings of the entertainment industry at nearly every level over a period of three decades. Nobody could ever write such a book – save for one man – Ben Bryant.

Bryant has shared the stage (and personal occasions) and worked with literally dozens of household name level stars such as Clint Eastwood, Alfred Hitchcock, Neil Diamond, Frank Zappa, Christopher Walken, Charles Bronson, Dave Brubeck, Roy Rogers, David Carradine, Jon Voight, Michael Bennett, Leonard Bernstein, Tony Martin, Charles Durning, Mary Martin, Jack Benny, Jack Jones, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Barbara Hershey, Dale Evans, Ricardo Montalban, Raul Julia, Cyd Charisse, Alan King, Jerry Orbach and many, many more.

Bryant’s captivating and utterly unique story captures the entertainment industry experience in ways no other work has ever captured it before or ever will again. Every segment of the industry – theatre, television, Las Vegas, national tours, The Metropolitan Opera and the Broadway stage – occupies a place in his tale. Bryant’s insightful “backstage view” of the world of entertainment is panoramic. His up close and personal stories form the basis of a work that readers will find revealing, amusing and wildly entertaining.

“As I wrote this book,” stated Bryant, “I intentionally endeavored to make the writing as conversational as possible. I want it to read as though the reader and I were sitting around telling stories.”

Ben Bryant has performed on Broadway, at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center as well as on stages and in concert halls all over the USA and Canada. He was even briefly an opera singer at the Met. He has known and worked with some extraordinary people, many of them famous. Beginning in Chapter Two, when, at thirteen he landed in Hollywood, the book is filled with celebrity stories – from Roy Rogers and Dale Evans with whom he went to church – to Frankie Avalon and Christopher Walken – with whom he did shows as an actor. There are stories about more than a score of Hollywood and Broadway stars he has worked and hung out with.

“One of the things I’ve found surprising about readers’ reactions,” Bryant continued, “is that ‘Three Stages’ is seen by nearly all of them as a Hollywood memoir. I was just writing about my life and the shows I did and the people in them. At the time it never even occurred to me that this was a celebrity book.”
