Love Story Interrupted on NBC

Our rocky love story, as I’ve mentioned many times on social media and this blog, is the spine of the third volume of my memoirs, Waiting for Elizabeth.

A couple of years ago I signed up for an email service called HARO (Help A Reporter Out) as a means of getting some media/marketing exposure for my books. Each weekday I get three emails listing – in categories such as Entertainment, Lifestyles etc. – queries from reporters in print, TV, podcasts and blogs who are seeking material for their work. As a result of HARO either I alone or with Elizabeth have been interviewed and/or video-ed and podcast maybe twenty times (could be more, I’ve lost count) since I signed up for the service. Most of the pieces are specifically about one or all of the books and, depending on the size of audience for a particular interview, often result in sales of from one to several books. And I generally enjoy the interviews although Elizabeth occasionally does not. She is a much more “private” person than I.

Sometimes, disappointingly, no mention of the books or of Elizabeth’s music and videos, can be shoe-horned into the conversation. And, ironically, that’s what happened with this, our biggest platform yet: NBC Daytime.

A lovely Today Show producer, Patricia Luchsinger brought two camera operators to our apartment a month or so ago and talked with us for at least half an hour. She was very good, her questions and follow-ups were excellent and we enjoyed the entire experience. The subject was divorce and remarriage and was prompted by a similar interview we did for New York Magazine, which also declined to mention our works.

Here’s the Today Show interview (sort of as aired) in full.

No last names, no contact info, no talk of books, CDs or video products but it was fun and the 7% of the interview they used was nice. (I replaced two of the stills they used with the covers of Waiting for Elizabeth and her healing video, In the Lap of Luxury.)

Since Today did not, I will tell you that you can get my books here, Elizabeth’s CDs here and our Better & Better Series here.
