Video editing can be art and editing video of art can be, too.
Near the end of January 2005 environmental artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude finished the installation of The Gates in Central Park.
In case you don’t know what I’m talking about (from Wikipedia): “The artists installed 7,503 vinyl “gates” along 23 miles of pathways in Central Park in New York City. From each gate hung a panel of deep saffron-colored nylon fabric. The exhibit ran from February 12, 2005 through February 27, 2005.”
Of course I shot them.
After three days of shooting it was time to edit. I had maybe an hour of tape, most of it moving on the bike. (I recommend that you watch full screen, with music.)
This is the box containing a coffee table book about The Gates.
Here’s what it said inside.
I reckon they liked the videos.
The third volume of my memoirs, Waiting for Elizabeth, contains more about this opus and many more video editing stories.
