Video Editing – Shadows of the Ski

Video editing, I really love it. I do it for fun and sometimes people pay me to do it.

This one was done for fun.

When watching the winter Olympics (I suppose I should have capitalized “winter”.) I was just about to switch to one of the news networks while the downhill was on – since watching one person after another slide down a hill does not intrigue me no matter how fast they do it – then I began to notice the shadows. It was either late morning or early afternoon on a sunny day in Korea and the moving graphics of the thing, the color and movement – especially the dramatic shadows – created interesting patterns on the white snow. This got and held my attention and after a couple of runs I got my iPhone had shot some of it. (That will explain the wiggling cross-hatch lines in some of the shots, shooting video of a TV picture.) And after I finished the edit I realized that the downhill skier was a woman. Oops.

Anyhow, here is a shadowy downhill skier followed by the “Ski Cross” which is even better. (More Shadows) Enjoy.

There’s lots more stuff about video editing in my third book, Waiting for Elizabeth. Click here to get it.
